 UTERINE INTRUSIONS

by Elaine de Coligny

The doctor swabbed my cervix and gave me men o pause.

It happened.

The fool poked you in the eye and stole your clairvoyance.

It has happened before.

The sage massaged our soles and bestowed on us a crown.

It also happened to those before us.

The jester shattered the peace and ordered Righteous soldiers to the streets.

It happened many times before this last one.

They marched with fire and curses while I fanned myself in the corner.

Don’t be sidelined while it happens.

We gather on the mall and across the globe

Voices in full throat and uteruses aflame

Pink corners on our hats

Birthing

Midwifing

Raising

Resistance

It continues to happen.
